On the heels of the damning Wall Street Journal report on a birthday wish that Donald Trump allegedly wrote to accused pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, CNN's Aaron Blake claimed there needs to be more questions asked and answered about the relationship between the two.
In an analysis published on Saturday morning, Blake went a step further and singled out a curious comment the president made about Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell who went from socialite to convicted child sex trafficker.
According to the analyst, the president is known for saying "weird" things, but when asked about Maxwell who was facing jail time inn 2019, Trump attempted to distance himself from her despite having a history of having his picture taken with both her and Epstein.
According to Blake, "... his [Trump's] commentary the following year after Maxwell was charged was different — and somewhat bizarre."
"But I wish her well, whatever it is," he told a reporter only to elaborate at a later date when questioned by reporter Jonathan Swan.
“Yeah, I wish her well,” he told Swan. “I’d wish you well. I’d wish a lot of people well. Good luck. Let them prove somebody was guilty.”
When pressed, he added: “I do wish her well. I’m not looking for anything bad for her. I’m not looking bad for anybody.”
That led Blake to suggest, "Even for a president who often says weird things, this ranks near the top."
