President Donald Trump made a startling admission aboard Air Force One while en route to Israel, specifically about what he believes will happen to him once he dies.
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Trump a question regarding his past comment about wanting to end the war in Ukraine, in part, as a means to “get into heaven, if possible.”
“A couple weeks ago you were doing an interview and you talked about how you hoped to end the war in Ukraine because it might help you get into heaven,” Doocy said to Trump as he flew to Jerusalem to address the Knesset, Israel’s legislative body, after having secured a peace plan between Israel and Hamas. “How does this help? Does this help?”
“I mean, I’m being a little cute,” Trump said, laughing slightly. “I don’t think there’s anything gonna get me in heaven, I really don’t… I think I’m maybe not heaven-bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make heaven. But I’ve made life better for a lot of people.”
Trump, 79, has made several references to what he believes is in store for him in the afterlife in recent weeks. In August, Trump first mused about his chances of getting “to heaven,” expressing hope that bringing about an end to the war in Ukraine may help him achieve his goal.
“You know, [people] get punished if they’re not good, right?" Trump said in August to conservative talk radio host Todd Starnes.
"If you don’t think about that, if you’re not a believer, and you believe you go nowhere, what’s the reason to be good, really? There has to be some kind of a report card up there someplace, you know, like, let’s go to heaven, let’s get into heaven, and it’s sort of a beautiful thing.”
Last week, Trump again made reference to his fate in the afterlife, declaring there was “no reason to be good” outside of the divine promise of an eternal afterlife in heaven.
“I want to be good because you want to prove to God you’re good so you go to that next step, right?” Trump said during a press conference last week at the White House. “That’s very important to me. I think it’s really, very important.”Trump: I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to get me into heaven. I think I’m not heaven bound.
