President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social on Wednesday night that he has agreed to meet with the new "Communist mayor" of New York City, Zohran Mamdani.

"Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran 'Kwame' Mamdani, has asked for a meeting," Trump posted. "We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st. Further details to follow!"

The announcement comes a couple of days after Mamdani reached out to the White House to set up a meeting with Trump, according to reports.

“My team reached out to the White House to fulfill a commitment I made to New Yorkers over the course of this campaign," Mamdani told NBC News.

The outlet added that the proposed meeting was part of his pledge to “address the affordability crisis that is pushing so many of them out of the city.”
