President Donald Trump threatened several pollsters Monday, including the conservative Fox News, over what he declared to be their “fake and fraudulent polling,” which he argued should be considered a “criminal offense.”
“Fake and Fraudulent Polling should be, virtually, a criminal offense,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “As an example, all of the Anti Trump Media that covered me during the 2020 Election showed Polls that were knowingly wrong. They knew what they were doing, trying to influence the Election, but I won in a Landslide.”
Trump has lashed out at pollsters before, demanding criminal charges be filed against them as recently as last week. His complaints come amid waves of polls showing the Trump administration to be underwater with Americans, with a recent New York Times poll finding that less than a third of voters believed the country was “better off” when compared to when Trump took office last January.
“Something has to be done about Fraudulent Polling. Even the Polls of FoxNews and The Wall Street Journal have been, over the years, terrible!” Trump continued.
“There are great Pollsters that called the Election right, but the Media does not want to use them in any way, shape, or form. Isn’t it sad what has happened to American Journalism, but I am going to do everything possible to keep this Polling SCAM from moving forward!”
