An analyst was floored on Sunday after President Donald Trump's 'poor flunky' made the rounds on the Sunday morning news shows.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who was once Trump's defense attorney, made the rounds on the Sunday morning shows, where he defended the administration's treatment of immigrants and the ongoing Department of Justice investigations into some of Trump's foes. Comments Blanche let slip during his appearance on "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos set off alarm bells for Will Saletan, a writer for The Bulwark.
Saletan discussed Blanche's interviews in a new reaction video for "Bulwark Takes."
Saletan noted that Blanche told Stephanopoulos that a recent $500 million deal between Trump's family business and a member of a foreign government was not "unprecedented" because the investment would "come back to the American people."
"According to Blanche, this is money that went directly to Trump and his family. It's their company," Saletan said. "And the Deputy Attorney General has the gall to sit there and tell ordinary Americans that money paid to the Trump family by a foreign government official is okay because any money that goes to Trump benefits America. It is absolutely corrupt."
Saletan also flagged part of the interview where Blanche admitted Trump has weaponized his Department of Justice against his enemies.
"He's basically admitting it," Saletan said. "Blanche says Trump and a bunch of the people around Trump were all investigated. They're all pissed off. They want revenge. And that is exactly what Trump is doing with all of these prosecutions of his political enemies."
