President Donald Trump's latest apparent glitch astonished a political analyst on Thursday.
David Pakman, host of "The David Pakman Show" on YouTube, reacted to a video of Trump speaking with reporters ahead of his trip to give the commencement address at the Coast Guard Academy. During the clip, Trump seemed to freeze up when a reporter tossed him a softball question. He also confused former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden when discussing the military withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
In one clip, a reporter asked Trump whether he thought Vice President JD Vance could succeed him. Trump called Vance a "smart guy" and "talented," but refused to say whether he thought Vance would ascend to the MAGA throne once Trump leaves office.
In another clip, Trump claimed that Obama was to blame for 13 service members dying after the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan in 2023. Biden was actually the president at the time, Pakman said.
"Trump is confused, but we're not allowed to question his brain," Pakman said.
Pakman said Trump's slip-up is a sign of a broader issue with the president.
"This happens all the time with Donald Trump," Pakman said. "He doesn't know what year it is, or he doesn't know what year it was. He can't do it. He just can't do it. He doesn't know what's going on."
Pakman's comments come at a time when questions about Trump's health are swirling. The president has been photographed multiple times with a bruised hand, which he's chalked up to his vigorous handshake. Trump has also been seen sleeping at the White House during meetings and press availabilities.
