Former Homeland Security chief of staff Miles Taylor is sounding the alarm against Donald Trump's plans for taking over the Republican Party and installing his own family member, Lara Trump, as head.
Speaking to the press, Lara Trump said that the Republican Party should be paying the former president's legal bills as evidenced by the enthusiasm of a GoFundMe started for the self-described billionaire after he was handed a $355 million judgment in the fraud trial.
Taylor said that he would hope that most Republican donors wouldn't want to see their party's funds spent on Trump's fines. He wanted to believe that such a move would turn people off of the GOP and mark the end of Trump's reign.

"But I know better than that," said Taylor. "And I actually think Lara Trump probably knows better than we do, which is that they have so fooled the GOP base that their future and the future of the country is tied to Donald Trump. That they seem willing to do almost anything to support him."
He went on to call it a kind of "cult mentality" around Trump, remembering the RNC email sent out asking supporters to help buy Trump a new plane.
"But there are a couple of things here that are significant about it: If the GOP turns into a GoFundMe for Donald Trump, it's likely to bankrupt candidates that are further down the ticket, that will probably result in those candidates losing their elections, and bigger losses for the GOP," Taylor explained.
Trump has lost seats for Republicans in every election since 2016.
"The thing that worries me is it will help enable Donald Trump to continue his quixotic odyssey to run America. And I think that the big concern is that that slush fund, that piggy bank, will increase his odds of winning back the White House," Taylor closed.
