President Donald Trump decreed on his Truth Social platform Tuesday morning that all Republicans must stay in D.C. until his "big, beautiful bill" passes.

"Now that we have made PEACE abroad, we must finish the job here at home by passing 'THE GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,' and getting the Bill to my desk, ASAP," wrote Trump. "It will be a Historic Present for THE GREAT PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, as we begin the Celebration of our Country’s 250th Birthday. We are finally entering our Golden Age, which will bring unprecedented Safety, Security, and Prosperity for ALL of our Citizens."

"To my friends in the Senate, lock yourself in a room if you must, don’t go home, and GET THE DEAL DONE THIS WEEK," he continued. "Work with the House so they can pick it up, and pass it, IMMEDIATELY. NO ONE GOES ON VACATION UNTIL IT’S DONE. Everyone, most importantly the American People, will be much better off thanks to our work together. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

The current version of Trump's bill extends the 2017 individual tax cuts from his prior tax bill, and cuts over $1 trillion from Medicaid, food stamps, and green energy programs, while adding trillions to the federal deficit over the next decade.

Senate Republicans, trying to plug the fiscal hole in the bill, have tried to make the Medicaid cuts even more aggressive than the version the House passed.

Meanwhile, Democrats have successfully gotten the Senate parliamentarian, who rules whether bills comply with the chamber's rules, to throw out a number of provisions planned for the bill, including cuts to the civil service, the cancelation of the Postal Service's electric vehicle fleet, a new congressional veto over future regulations, and new restrictions on federal judges enforcing civil contempt sanctions against Trump administration officials.
