'Chorus of boos': Internet erupts after Trump is reportedly hit with taunts while on stage

Donald Trump on Saturday was apparently on the receiving end of some "boos" from a crowd in Pennsylvania, and it set social media on fire.

The former president was attempting to promote his new gold sneakers, which some onlookers have likened to a quick cash grab as he faces an order to pay hundreds of millions of dollars for fraud in N.Y., when the crowd seemed to turn on him.

"A lot of emotion. There's a lot of emotion in this room. Thank you," he says over the loud boos heard in one viral video. "The nice thing is... we have lines... I want to thank Chase and I want to thank Allen. But we have lines going all around the block." He then continued speaking over the jeering crowd.

As ABC News reports:

"Trump was met with loud boos as well as cheers at the Philadelphia Convention Center as he introduced what he called the first official Trump footwear."

The internet didn't take it easy on the ex-president.

An account called "Biden's wins" posted the video Saturday, saying that Trump "is getting booed at Sneaker Con for trying to sell shoes."

"Retweet to make sure everyone sees Trump get embarrassed." That post was shared by conservative Trump critic Rick Wilson.

A social media account called KevinlyFather also described the event, referring to what Trump heard as a "chorus of boos."

Former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski also posted the video on his social media, indicating Trump was "booed at Sneaker Con" while promoting shoes.

That prompted columnist Molly Jong-Fast to say, "What does that sound like to you?" referring to the boos.

Film and TV producer Franklin Leonard said, "I am genuinely curious the sequence of events that led to his selling sneakers and this speech happening."

Trump's former lawyer and "fixer" Michael Cohen also chimed in on the viral video:

"I wonder if my Trump executive corporate discount card is still active?" Cohen asked social media.
