Donald Trump on Friday morning made an unexpected social media post about taking cognitive tests, causing rumors to swirl online.
In the wake of a devastating report about the president's declining health, including inside accounts of Trump's purported hearing loss, the president took to Truth Social ahead of the weekend.
"The White House Doctors have just reported that I am in 'PERFECT HEALTH,' and that I 'ACED' (Meaning, was correct on 100% of the questions asked!), for the third straight time, my Cognitive Examination, something which no other President, or previous Vice President, was willing to take," the president claimed.
That post set off alarm bells for observers.
Former GOP strategist Sarah Longwell said, "For a guy with perfect cognitive health, he sure is taking a lot of cognitive tests."
Investigative journalist Adam Cochran said, "Trump posts claim that he 'aced' his third cognitive exam.. Forgetting that he already announced this exact claim last month…"
PatriotTakes, which purports to track right-wing extremism, also chimed in:
"Trump claims he passed another cognitive exam."
Progressive voice Alex Cole said, "Trump seems to think him continually being asked to take cognitive tests over and over again is a good thing."
NYTPitchbot joked, "Whether it’s Barack Obama being the editor of Harvard Law Review or Donald Trump narrowly passing a cognitive test used to detect dementia, there’s plenty of serious intellectual accomplishments on both sides of the aisle."
The popular Tom Joseph account wrote, "Trump’s dementia deterioration is really severe."
"He’s posting like it happened today that 'Doctors have just reported' he’s in 'PERFECT HEALTH' and he 'ACED' his third cognitive test… Except he said the same thing over a month ago on Dec 1 after his fake physical. He won’t finish his term."
