Former President Donald Trump's legal team is a "clown show" that is incapable of getting him out of trouble, argued Trump's one-time attorney and fixer Michael Cohen on MSNBC Wednesday.
This comes amid Trump's vow to appeal the Colorado Supreme Court's decision disqualifying him from the ballot — and as the former president prepares to face down numerous criminal cases.
"To your point about Trump's many legal issues, he's got tons of lawyers in Trump World," said anchor Katie Phang, herself an attorney. "We know. We've talked about it, you and I. Four separate criminal cases had four jurisdictions, one or two fraud cases, E. Jean Carroll trial in January. Do the lawyers that are a part of Trump legal, do they have the competency bandwidth to be able to coordinate multiple battle fronts on behalf of Donald Trump?"

"I don't think this entire clown show of lawyers that he currently has — I like to call them the D-team," said Cohen. "Look at the nonsense that, you know, gets spewed every day out of the mouth of someone like Alina Habba. If that is your spokesperson, the person that you have front and center on your legal issues, he's got some real problems ahead of him."
The legal team Trump is currently using, Cohen continued, is really more of a political team.
"It's an infomercial," said Cohen. "Very similar to what Donald said when he was deciding that he was going to run in 2016, that it was supposed to be the greatest infomercial in the history of U.S. politics. When he has this group of lawyers, I can't even — it's just a clown show out there speaking on his behalf, saying things that are different, in fact, than what he is saying ... it's supposed to be an infomercial for his political campaign and it has nothing to do with the legal merits of any of these cases."
