A federal judge has denied former President Donald Trump his try to buy a week in the in E. Jean Carroll's rape defamation case in order to grieve the loss of his mother-in-law.

Trump had formally sought a "one-week postponement" of the scheduled trial.

According to the ruling, the reason given was that "Mr. Trump opposes to spend Jan. 17 and 18 traveling to and attending the funeral, which the family has scheduled for Jan. 18, 2018 in Florida."

While the judge didn't grant the extension, he did extend its thoughts to the family.

"The Court offers its condolences to Mr. and Mrs. Trump and the rest of Ms. Knavs' family," the order states.
