An attack by Donald Trump aimed at a conservative campaign donor who has supported him overwhelmingly through the years wasn't enough for the widow of a megadonor to pull her support, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
Reporter Maggie Haberman wrote last week that billionaire supporter Miriam Adelson, the widow of the casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, got an angry set of text messages attacking her and her legitimacy as a conservative.
It left the widow "stunned," the report said, largely because the two had a "friendly meeting" the week prior.
"A person briefed on the matter," according to Haberman, said that "Trump was manipulated into attacking Adelson by another donor, Ike Perlmutter, who 'had hoped in vain that Mrs. Adelson would contribute to a rival super PAC that he backs.'"

Adelson was not offended enough to ditch Trump, Haberman posted on X.
"Dave Carney, head of the Adelson-backed Save America, makes clear that the group is sticking with Trump despite his angry texts to its patron."
“President Trump will secure the border, bring prices down and stop Kamala’s quest to transform our country into a socialist hellhole. Preserve America is proudly committed to helping President Trump with an advertising campaign that will exceed what we spent in 2020,” Carney told her.
