Attorneys representing E. Jean Carroll delivered a swift smackdown to former President Donald Trump as he demanded a new trial after she successfully sued him for defamation and sexual abuse.
As reported by Law and Crime News' Adam Klasfeld, Carroll's legal team delivered a scathing court filing in which it ridiculed Trump for wanting a do-over of a trial where he was ordered to pay its client $5 million.
“Trump’s motion is nothing more than his latest effort to obfuscate the import of the jury’s verdict by engaging in his own particular Trump-branded form of magical thinking,” argued attorney Roberta Kaplan.
Kaplan went on to accuse Trump of blowing off the fact that he was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll.

"Once again, Trump has the nerve to claim public vindication from the jury in this case when, in fact, the jury determined that he penetrated Carroll’s vagina with his fingers without her consent and then defamed her last year," she wrote.
Trump's legal feud with Carroll is just one of his many legal problems, which also include a civil lawsuit over allegedly fraudulent business practices from New York Attorney General Letitia James; criminal charges related to his hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels; criminal charges into his retention of top-secret documents at Mar-a-Lago; and two different investigations into his efforts to illegally remain in power after losing the 2020 election to President Joe Biden.
