Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is striking a defiant tone after President Donald Trump issued an executive order that purports to rescind birthright citizenship.

Politico reports that Pritzker slammed the Trump order rescinding birthright citizenship, which was established in the United States by the ratification of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1868.

"That’s unconstitutional," Pritzker stated flatly. "We will not follow an unconstitutional order."

He also said that the order would simply cause unneeded legal disruptions while not accomplishing anything positive.

"This is indicative of what you're going to see of the Trump administration for the next four years," he said. "It’s chaos."

Pritzker also hammered Trump for giving tech CEOs such as X owner Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos prominent seats at his inauguration.

"He’s got the oligarchs sitting on the front row of his inauguration," said Pritzker, who himself is a billionaire and whose family owns that Hyatt hotel chain. "It shows who he cares about. It’s the wealthiest people in America who are kowtowing to him and not ordinary Americans. He does not care about ordinary Americans."
