'Forces unleashed': Fox reporter warns of 'nasty market turns' from 'draconian' Trump plan

A veteran Donald Trump reporter on Sunday said that his sources fear Donald Trump may have already set things in motion for a massive economic downturn.

FOX Biz senior correspondent Charles Gasparino, who reports on Trump often and earned the ire of MAGA when he recently reported that conservatives were wrong to suggest Trump outsmarted the world with tariffs, took to social media to issue a breaking alert.

"Breaking: Growing contingent of traders worried that that markets haven’t really priced in any potential for systemic risk that’s bubbling now beneath surface over the price shock of tariffs particularly on China," he wrote.

Noting that "market plumbing — despite that brief spell before the pause — shows calm on headline indicators," Gasparino added, "What the bears are saying is that the forces have been unleashed; if we don’t get cessation of the draconian nature of tariffs, we could see some nasty market turns once inflation numbers kick in, store shelves start going empty, unemployment begins to tick up, small businesses start to close because of supply chain issues."

The reporter then added, "Not saying I endorse this view but the rosy scenario seems a bit too rosy."

"Will be interesting to see if the White House backs up it’s optimism w some details tomorrow on whatever is it’s cooking up w China," he then concluded, referencing an announcement from the White House.
