Donald Trump's top lawyer Chris Kise shot to his feet for a dramatic objection Tuesday – and the courtroom erupted with laughter over it.

The moment came after witness and Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen was being questioned by prosecutors – and revealed that he aided Trump in artificially inflating his assets to raise his own net worth.

As Trump's lawyer Alina Habba began to cross-examine him, among the first questions she asked was whether Cohen lied when he pleaded guilty to tax fraud in 2018. Cohen has always maintained that he didn't commit tax fraud but was intimidated into taking a plea agreement.

Habba was attempting to catch Cohen in a lie. Did he lie to the judge, or is he lying now? Cohen admitted he lied to the judge in his earlier trial. A reporter could be heard gasping in the courtroom as he answered, MSNBC's Lisa Rubin tweeted.

Habba exclaimed, "You lied to Judge Pauley?"

Cohen responded: "Asked and answered' – a typical objection used by lawyers.

In response to Cohen's objection, Kise shot out of his seat, screaming, “Your honor, this witness is out of control!”

Rubin said that the courtroom erupted in laughter.

Judge Arthur Engoron did chastise Cohen for making his own objections, but he continued on the very next question.

Habba asked whether Cohen still had his law license.

Cohen replies: "Asked and answered."

The trial then ended for the day. Cohen's testimony will continue on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Cohen told reporters that facing Trump in the courtroom was a "heck of a reunion," as the two men hadn't seen each other in five years.
