Grammy-winning rocker Jack White unleashed a blistering attack on Donald Trump's opulent redecoration of the White House, calling it a transformation into something resembling "a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler's dressing room."
The White Stripes frontman's fury was triggered by a photo showing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy meeting with Trump in an Oval Office now dripping with gold-framed paintings, gold trinkets, and trophies. White didn't hold back in his Instagram post Monday night.
"Look at his disgusting taste, would you even buy a used car from this conman, let alone give him the nuclear codes?" White wrote. "A gold-plated Trump bible would look perfect up on that mantle with a pair of Trump shoes on either side, wouldn't it? What an embarrassment to American history."
Trump's gaudy makeover includes gold cherubs imported from Mar-a-Lago, gold vases, gold urns, gold picture frames, and a gold "Trump" crest over the historic building's entrance. Even the presidential seal on the Oval Office ceiling has been painted gold. The Rose Garden lawn has been paved over and decorated with metal furniture and yellow umbrellas.
White, who previously called Trump an "obvious fascist" and "wannabe dictator," made sure to praise Zelenskyy in contrast: "Also pictured in this photograph, a REAL leader of a nation in a black suit."
The musician has clashed with Trump before, dropping a copyright lawsuit last November after Trump used "Seven Nation Army" without permission. "Don't even think about using my music you fascists," White had warned.
White concluded his latest broadside by predicting Trump supporters will eventually distance themselves: "The people who have supported this professional liar, egomaniac conman all these years will all pretend they never did once he's gone."
