Donald Trump has long been mocked for his unhealthy food habits, but in a newly released book by Cassidy Hutchinson, the former president's gluttony was on full display.
She recalled a lunch she set up with Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), then-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) at the White House.
"Kevin was the last guest to leave after the lunch ended," Hutchinson recalls in the book. "He asked me to walk him to his car. When we were outside, he told me that the president had seemed annoyed at lunch and not his usual self. I explained that he had not been himself for a while — that COVID was getting to him, and he wasn’t getting enough human interaction."

Later that day, Hutchinson and chief of staff Mark Meadows were called into the dining room by Trump.
"He was still in the dining room," she added. "I was prepared to be reprimanded for having invited Liz, ready to take the blame and a told-you-so from Mark. The president was eating a second (his real) lunch and looked cross," she writes, indicating Trump ate a smaller first lunch with the members.
"Mark asked if everything had gone okay, and the president immediately started to complain — not about Liz, but about Steve, who he said had tried to dominate the conversation. Steve had been acting like an 'obsessed fan' with no concept of personal space," the story continues. “'He kept bringing his chair closer to me, and getting too close to my face when he spoke, like he doesn’t know I can hear him fine,' the president said. He stressed several times that he did not want to be put in that situation again."
