President Donald Trump melted down Friday on social media over "thugs" that he said were "violently throwing rocks and bricks" at federal immigration agents.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that he "watched in disbelief" as "thugs" hurled rocks and bricks at Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers inside an official government vehicle as they drove down a roadway.
"Tremendous damage was done to these brand new vehicles. I know for a fact that these Officers are having a hard time with allowing this to happen in that it shows such total disrespect for LAW AND ORDER," he said.
Trump said he would direct Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and his "border czar" Tom Homan to instruct all ICE, Homeland Security, and other law enforcement agents on the receiving end of such attacks to "stop their car, and arrest these SLIMEBALLS, using whatever means is necessary to do so."
"I am giving Total Authorization for ICE to protect itself, just like they protect the Public. I never want to see a car carrying a Law Enforcement Officer attacked again! AUTHORIZATION IMMEDIATELY GRANTED FOR ARREST AND INCARCERATION," he raged.
Notably, assaulting a federal agent while they are performing official duties is already a federal crime that applies to anyone regardless of citizenship status.
