The indictment leveled against former President Donald Trump includes multiple instances in which he allegedly tried to obstruct investigators' attempts to retrieve top-secret government documents stashed at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Among other things, the indictment alleges that Trump suggested to one of his lawyers that they "hide or destroy documents called for by the grand jury subpoena" and also suggested to the same attorney that they "falsely represent to the FBI and grand jury that Trump did not have documents called for by the grand jury subpoena."

In another instance of obstruction, the indictment alleges Trump directed aide Walt Nauta to "move boxes of documents to conceal them from Trump's attorney, the FBI, and the grand jury."

The twice impeached, twice-indicted former president also eventually provided the FBI with "just some of the documents called for by the grand jury subpoena" while secretly "knowing that, in fact, not all such documents had been produced."
