The internet let out a collective gasp as President Donald Trump referred to the word "nuclear" as the "N word" during a light moment with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

Baier and Trump's interview aired Friday night, in which Trump talked about a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

"It was tit for tat. And it was getting deeper and more — I mean, more missiles. Everyone was stronger, stronger. To a point where the next one was gonna be you know what. The N word. You know what the N word is, right?"

"Nuclear," Baier replied, as he and the president shared a chuckle at the reference for a racial slur. "Thank you for the clarification."

"I figured you'd want to clean that up. No It's the N word. That's a very nasty word, right? In a lot of ways. The n word used in a nuclear sense, it's the worst thing that can happen."

The moment stunned social media critics.

"In a bizarre moment, Donald Trump refers to nuclear bombs as 'the N-word' before realizing how idiotic that is. 'The N Word. You know what the N word is right? Baier: Nuclear? Trump: 'I figured you want to clear that up.' 25th Amendment time," wrote the account Call to activism, founded by attorney Joseph Gallina.

The account AnatolijUkraine wrote on X, "Absurd. Trump tiptoes around nuclear war like it’s a punchline, then smirks about 'clearing it up.' This isn’t funny. It’s frightening.Still think the 25th is off the table?"

"Oh boy…did he just say 'the n word'?!?!" exclaimed X user TD McClellan.

Fellow user Bill Johnson wrote on X, "Only Trump can make light of nuclear war with racism."
