Former President Donald Trump laid into Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA) at an Iowa campaign rally on Wednesday, going after her for her endorsement of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president.

"We love loyalty," said Trump of the matter, portraying Reynolds and unfaithful to him. He went on to say that she is the "least popular governor" in the country — which is true by some metrics, according to Morning Consult polling.

Trump then went on to claim that DeSantis would oppose longstanding subsidies for fuel ethanol, a controversial program that nonetheless enriches numerous farmers in the state.

"I will be your ethanol champion," he said.

With the Iowa caucuses just five weeks away, pressure is mounting on DeSantis and the other challengers to Trump to put up a competitive showing.

Trump has escalated his attacks on DeSantis, most recently attacking his wife for appearing to wrongly assert, before clarifying otherwise, that out-of-state DeSantis supporters could travel to Iowa and participate in the caucuses.
