President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Monday to throw fury at Karl Rove, a longtime Republican strategist who worked under former President George W. Bush.
"Karl Rove is so bad for the Republican Party, and completely wrong so often," wrote Trump. "He suffers from a major case of Trump Derangement Syndrome primarily because, for almost 10 years, I beat back and won against so many of the people and things that he wanted and espoused."
"Why does Fox News and the WSJ keep his RINO Voice alive," Trump added. "The guy is a stone cold loser!"
Rove, once legendary for his ruthless tactics on the campaign trail, announced earlier in the day he would be crossing the aisle to vote for the Democratic opponent of Bo French, the GOP Texas Railroad Commission candidate who triggered outrage with a racist screed against South Asian students at the University of Texas at Austin.
"I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined," French wrote, sharing a picture of mostly brown-skinned students cheering at a Longhorns football game.
French has refused to back down from his remarks, even as a number of Texas Republicans have condemned him.
