President Donald Trump's inner circle has been quietly plotting to transform the Kennedy Center from a public performing arts center to a new venue for elites, according to a new report from The Daily Beast on Tuesday.
His ally and board of trustees member Paolo Zampolli, First lady Melania Trump's former modeling agent, admitted that there is a new vision for the historic cultural hub, The Beast reported. And although Trump was forced to remove his name from the building, "there is a secret blueprint to put his mark all over the center."
Insiders say this new vision for the historic site includes Valentino runway shows, a marina for luxury yachts and tenders, high-end restaurants, and even a partnership to beam American arts into outer space.
Zampolli reportedly confirmed he's already in talks with the White House about the makeover, even as a federal judge keeps blocking Trump's push to slap his own name on the building.
The timing is no accident. The board faces a July 31 deadline to spell out its plans to the court, following a lawsuit from a congresswoman on the board.
"Whether it’s Jackie Kennedy’s rose garden or her husband’s memorial cultural center, Trump continues his crusade to remake D.C. in Mar-a-Lago’s image," The Beast reported.
