A panel on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday roasted former President Donald Trump for making new excuses for retaining top-secret government documents and refusing to return them even after receiving a subpoena.
In particular, host Willie Geist highlighted Trump's recent statement that he wasn't really waving around Iran war plans to guests at his Bedminster resort but was actually waving around plans for a new golf course.
Geist marveled at Trump's ability to simply concoct a new reality in the face of damning evidence.
"Making it up as he goes along," said Geist. "As we have said already this morning, this is a man who knows he can say anything, and as long as he says it's a hoax and a witch hunt and a product of fake news, his followers will buy the story and his lead over Ron DeSantis will, in fact, increase."

Guest Mike Barnicle shared Geist's belief that Republican primary voters would be drawn more to Trump even if he gets indicted for a third time.
"His lead will increase, his opponents will slowly disappear in the distance," he said. "He lies about everything... It is what it is, and we continue to cover it every single day, this parade of lies coming from a former president of the United States."
