'Did president mislead?' CNN's Blitzer attacks Republican using Trump's words

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer threw President Donald Trump’s own words in a Republican’s face as she tried to argue that massive Medicaid cuts wouldn’t hurt Americans.

House Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain (MI) was on the network to laud the budget megabill that’s almost certain to be passed Thursday.

But as she gushed about how great the bill was, Blitzer hit her with a reminder that Trump had promised Americans that they would see no cuts in Medicaid.

Instead, the legislation that’s being voted on Thursday is expected to boot millions of people off the program.

‘The president has repeatedly promised to not touch Medicaid,” the anchor told McClain. “Listen to what he said earlier this year.”

Blitzer then played video of Trump sitting in the Oval Office and directly vowing that Medicaid would not be altered.

“We are going to love and cherish Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid,” he said.

“We're not going to do anything with that. The people on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, those people are going to be more secure.”

Blitzer directly told McClain that what Trump promised was opposite to what she and her colleagues are now supporting.

“Despite what he said, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which is, of course, respected by both Democrats and Republicans, projects 12 million more people would be uninsured because of Medicaid provisions in this legislation.

“Did the president mislead the American public about not cutting Medicaid?”

Despite being confronted with Trump’s own words, McClain dismissed Blitzer’s evidence.

‘I don't think so at all,” she said.

“If you are one of the most vulnerable and need Medicaid, you're a pregnant mother, you're disabled, you're elderly. You know, the people who need the Medicaid the absolute most, you should be extremely excited because what Republicans did and President Trump did is just make sure that the medicaid program is there for years to come.

“... He's cleaning up. We're cleaning up the waste.”
