Former President Donald Trump and his two adult sons seem to have little strategy at their civil fraud trial in New York beyond making Judge Arthur Engoron sick listening to their false claims.
That's the view of Trump's former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, who also gave testimony in the trial and appeared on CNN to weigh in on Donald Trump Jr.'s latest claims on the stand.
"What do you think about him referring to his father as an 'artist of real estate?'" asked anchor Jake Tapper.
"I'm not sure if I would call him an artist," said Cohen. "If you look at properties that Don Jr. put up on the PowerPoint, Donald Trump was not the creator. He was just the purchaser. Mar-a-Lago, obviously, he didn't build. That was Marjorie Merriweather Post. And he didn't build Seven Springs, nor did he build, for example, Bedminster. That is the former DeLorean estate. And 40 Wall Street, obviously as well. He acquired that property."
"You described on the stand how you manipulated Trump's financial statements and describing it as reverse-engineering," Tapper continued. "Do you think that is what Don Jr. is doing with this PowerPoint presentation today?"
"Well, I think what Don is really doing here is he's holding the Trump line, which is what we were all supposed to and required to do," said Cohen. "In fact, they should probably change the name from MAGA to MEGA: Make Engoron Gag Again. Because I watched as the judge was getting visually nauseous from the lies that were being told by the Trump team, by Trump's counsel, by Don Jr., that he was merely a broker and Eric Trump just laid concrete, none of which anybody believes to be accurate or truthful."
