Trump's red wave confounded fans.

On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump left his skyscraper home bearing mysterious red splotches on his right hand, according to The Daily Mail.

The source of the marks set online sleuths into a tizzy.

"Too many jelly doughnut," wrote @JeffreyWelshans in a tweet.

@DebiFranklin1 blamed it on the 45th president's penchant for French fries. "Ketchup from last night's McDonald's run."

"Red ink from Top Secret documents," asked @bryan6086464012.

Temperatures in Iowa were especially brutal when he took home the win in the caucuses.

Still, it didn't stop @teresashaffer19 from presuming that maybe Trump erred while working on his coiffed hairdo, posting: "He tried to do his own hair with a curling iron."

Some came to his support with a wisecrack.

"I hope Trump's tiny hand gets better soon," Jennifer Mercieca tweeted.

And others were wondering how his speckled hands weren't being talked about more.

"Can you imagine if Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi waved and this is what you saw," @adamparkhomenko stated in a tweet. "We would never hear the end of it."

The viral photos also caused the word "syphilis" to trend on social media after some estimated that the source could be a sexually transmitted infection.
