Atlantic journalist David Graham thinks that former President Donald Trump's promotion of his own daughter-in-law to co-chair the Republican National Committee is going to come back to bite the GOP in a significant way.
In his latest column, Graham argues that Trump has taken an entire political party and has essentially made it "yet another subsidiary of Trump Inc."
While that may or may not help Trump in his quest to win back the presidency in 2024, he says it spells long-term disaster for the party as a whole, especially given the fact that the Trump Organization has been found liable for defrauding investors by manipulating asset values.

"The full conquest of the RNC is good news for Trump personally," argues Graham. "He can take advantage of the party’s resources, such as they still exist, and make it do what he wants, without the pesky problems of existing structures. But given what we know about the Trump Organization and the Trump White House, it is unlikely to be good news for the party."
At the end of the day, Graham believes that Trump's family takeover of the RNC is just yet one of many "signs of the GOP’s terminal illness."
