President Donald Trump said that he's meeting with The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg, the reporter who was added to a private Signal chat among top Cabinet members. According to Trump, it's "out of curiosity and as a competition with myself" to see if he can get a "truthful" story out of The Atlantic. Trump put the word "truthful" in quotes.

The Truth Social post prompted ridicule from others on social media.

"Here’s hoping Jeffrey Goldberg doesn’t try to normalize Trump like Bill Maher did. If I were Goldberg, I’d bring my attorney," said screenwriter and producer Craig Williams, posted on Blue Sky.

"I should totally show up and say I'm Jeffrey Goldberg," The Dispatch's editor-in-chief, Jonah Goldberg, joked.

Congressional reporter Erik Wasson at Bloomberg News responded with a fake quote, "People are saying I'm Jeffrey Goldberg."

French Professor Matthew Fraser said dryly, "Trump recently called journalist Jeffrey Goldberg a 'sleezebag.' Now this news."

Foreign affairs journalist Olga Nesterova reminded Trump, "We literally saw the chat."
