Former President Donald Trump ran away with the vote in the Iowa caucuses, and now he has turned his sights on New Hampshire, where polling has shown a somewhat more competitive race.
It's down to voters to try to slow down Trump's rapid ascent to another nomination this year, argued former George W. Bush administration official Bill Kristol on MSNBC's "The Beat" on Tuesday.
And the way to do that, he argued, is to get out and vote for one of his key remaining opponents.

"New Hampshire will be very competitive a week from today, and if [Nikki] Haley wins there, maybe that checkmark next to her name, if that happens, changes the dynamics of the race and in terms of the general election," Kristol told anchor Ari Melber.
'That's why it's important that Haley does well in efforts to get undeclared voters in New Hampshire and to vote for Haley in the Republican primary, which they can legally do in many states, and it's legitimate to do in my opinion to weaken Trump. Even if you're not really going to deny him the nomination — you could, but even if you don't, it's the single thing people can do today to slow down Donald Trump's momentum."
If this happens, Kristol continued, we can "get people used to not voting for Trump, or voting against Trump, which means they're easier to win over in the general election, at least to stay home."
