Trump staffer fears what he'll do if reelected in 2024 — including using the military for politics: new doc
Alyssa Farah (Fox News/screen grab)

CNN's Jake Tapper will air a special report Friday evening interviewing many of President Donald Trump's former staffers who turned against him after the Jan. 6. One clip, however, reveals the startling reason that the former president could be even more dangerous if he's elected again in 2024.

Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah told Tapper that she's concerned he could impose some form of autocracy.

"There are things he wanted to do in power the first time that were well beyond the scope of what the U.S. president should be able to do," said Farah. "But it was the hope of winning re-election. Whether it's weaponizing the Justice Department against political opponents, whether it's, you know, going after the free press, he would certainly be open to using the military for political reasons as well."

Tapper called it terrifying and noted that Farah wasn't the only one predicting Trump's destruction of the United States as we know it.

"I spoke to a Republican yesterday who said the same thing," said CNN host Jim Sciutto. "He worries about the republic falling if he [Trump] were re-elected."

Tapper noted that the documentary, while it talks about Jan. 6, isn't about Jan. 6. It's about "the most visible manifestation of Donald Trump's attempts to overturn the election, undermine democracy, and disenfranchise the American people. But the documentary is about the entire campaign, a months-long campaign, and we only interviewed journalists and Republicans. And Republican officials in this documentary to a person are expressing the concern about Donald Trump will try again to undermine the election, and he will be better situated to do it. so we talked to election officials from Arizona and Pennsylvania and Georgia."

Tapper said that there are a lot of opinions about what Trump will do to overturn the election the next time and that it may not even have to be as violent as Jan. 6.

The documentary will appear on CNN at 9 p.m. EST.
