Even Ted Cruz thinks President Donald Trump's treason accusation against Barack Obama is nonsense.
The Texas Republican senator went on Fox News late Wednesday and agreed with host Laura Ingraham that the latest MAGA obsession that Obama should be prosecuted was going nowhere.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard launched a sensational accusation earlier this week, claiming Obama orchestrated a "treasonous conspiracy" and "years-long coup" regarding the 2016 Russian election interference investigation.
However, multiple fact-checkers have blown her claims apart.
During the Fox News appearance, Cruz and Ingraham admitted it was highly unlikely that Obama could be convicted.
"He's not going to be prosecuted for treason," Ingraham flatly stated. "That's not going to happen."
Cruz agreed. “He’s not going to be prosecuted, in all likelihood, for treason."
Gabbard's accusations, which were taken up by Trump and many in the MAGA crowd, emerged as the administration tried to deflect from the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Trump even shared a fake AI-generated video depicting Obama's arrest, further demonstrating the narrative's desperation.
Obama swiftly responded through a spokesman, calling the allegations "ridiculous" and a "weak attempt at distraction." He emphasized that the widely accepted conclusion remains that Russia attempted to influence the election, even if they didn't manipulate votes.
