The first hearing by elected Republicans to consider evidence that might possibly warrant the impeachment of Joe Biden has not turned out well, according to some conservatives online.

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele took notice of the hearing.

"GOP witnesses state they have not presented ANY firsthand witness account of crimes committed by Biden," he said, adding a quote.

"'Republicans privately voiced frustration with the witnesses’ unwillingness to confirm under oath their prior assertions about Biden.' Must be something about lying under oath," he added.

CNN's Melanie Zanona reported that there was frustration in the GOP over its first impeachment hearing, quoting a senior Republican aide.

"Picking witnesses that refute House Republicans arguments for impeachment is mind blowing. This is an unmitigated disaster," the individual allegedly said.

David Frum, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, said the hearing was a success, but not in the way those who called it had hoped that it would be.

"Today's hearing was not a failure. It was a great success in revealing the emptiness of the allegations against President Biden," he said.

Former Trump supporter David Weissman also added, "This impeachment inquiry is just as much of a joke as last night's Republican debate. I'm so glad I left that garbage party."
