An MSNBC host noted Wednesday that Republicans' response to Gen. John Kelly coming out publicly against Donald Trump has been to destroy the man and his reputation.
At the top of her Wednesday show, Nicolle Wallace pointed out: "The pushback to those three interviews, and the reporting of them, from Donald Trump and his campaign has been intense, has been personal, and it has been nasty."
According to Trump's campaign and his surrogates, the four-star general is lying and has "beclowned himself."

Iraq War veteran Paul Rieckhoff, who helped found Independent Veterans for America among other groups, noted Republicans have been willing to bring down Kelly "like he was nobody."
"They're crapping on the former chairman of the joint chiefs, former secretary of defense," said Rieckhoff.
He also urged Kelly to go further.
"If Kamala Harris wants to deliver a closing argument next week, have him there. Have [Gen. Mark] Milley, have [Gen.] Bill McChrystal there. Have Dick Cheney there. Have Mark Esper there. Have everybody in the defense community that has served with Trump and is now opposed to him and remind him — remind everybody that they're gone and that if Trump is elected."
Rieckhoff also said that distrust and disgust of Trump isn't unique to Kelly among the top brass.
"I talk to Tom Bowman on my podcast tomorrow, the Pentagon reporter for NPR, and he says that folks have told him that they're going to leave the Pentagon. They're going to retire if Trump gets elected. The brain drain we will experience in our military is like nothing we've seen if this guy gets elected," Rieckhoff warned.
