Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) became the latest in a growing list of Republican lawmakers to get cornered by her own constituents at a town hall — and grew visibly frustrated with them.
Her event in Westfield saw hundreds of people enraged at tech billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency task force for dismantling the civil service and trying to undermine federal programs across the board — and she leapt to Musk's defense, in a moment captured by NOTUS' Daniella Diaz.
"We have to make sure that there is a proper authorization in funds that are disbursed. This is your money!" she said, as the crowd shouted and booed.

“If you just came here to scream then we’re not going to have a conversation,” she later added.
Republicans all over the country have faced similar anger at meetings with constituents, including in heavily Republican-favoring districts — to the point where House GOP leadership is outright advising members not to hold town halls at all.
Last month, following one of the first of these angry meetings held by Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA), Spartz herself weighed in on what transpired.
"Unfortunately, many people came to his town hall not to have a conversation but just create drama," said Spartz at the time in a post to X. "If these people cannot have a respectful dialogue, maybe he should just do what almost all politicians do in Congress — nothing, just collect checks from lobbyists and run BS ads in the district based on polling — a proven way to get re-elected with no headaches."
