A Virginia home was razed by a fireball as an armored SWAT vehicle attempted to approach it.
The massive explosion that rocked North Burlington Street in Arlington's Bluemont neighborhood was involved in a standoff, according to police.
It added that cops had been camped outside the duplex at around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, with the alleged perpetrator firing a flare gun over nearby Fields Park; and as seen in the video footage posted online, it blew up, ARL Now reported.
Police confirmed that they were "investigating a suspect" for having "discharged a flare gun from his residence."
Cops confirmed that officers were in the process of serving a search warrant before the house went up in flames.
They wrote that the suspect "discharged several rounds inside the home" and subsequently, "an explosion occurred at the residence and officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the explosion."
Residents in the area were being instructed to shelter in place, while others were being evacuated to safety.
