A CNN panel on Thursday shredded GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy for spreading a wide array of conspiracy theories during this week's Republican presidential debate.

The discussion started after CNN played a clip from the debate in which Ramaswamy asserted that the January 6th Capitol riots were an "inside job," that the United States government had been covering up the truth about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and that the "Great Replacement" theory endorsed by white supremacists was a real plot being enacted by the Democratic Party.

"You sound like an idiot," commented host Phil Mattingly after watching the clip of Ramaswamy.

Others on the panel shared Mattingly's assessment.

"He went... full-on QAnon last night," commented panelist Karen Finney. "It almost felt to me as if he knew he may not get another shot on the debate stage, so let me just put it all out there and try to whip up some of the people who believe all of those awful things. It was a pretty shocking litany."

"It's worse than idiotic," commented panelist John Avlon. "That was the worst answer that I've heard in any debate because it was so pathetically pandering and disqualifying... that is a dog whistle to a certain segment of the Republican electorate that loves that legitimization that they just heard from the stage. It's worse than cynical -- it's sinister."
