President-elect is reportedly urging Vivek Ramaswamy, co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to vie for the Senate seat being vacated by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance.
The Washington Post first reported that Trump wanted Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) to appoint Ramaswamy to complete Vance's term in the Senate.

It was not immediately clear what this would mean for DOGE, a non-governmental advisory board created by Trump. Billionaire Elon Musk also co-chairs DOGE.
DeWine was spotted at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort last weekend. Ramaswamy does not have any previous experience in government. He briefly ran for president in 2024 before dropping out to endorse Trump.
