'I was there': White House reporter recalls Jan. 6 attack was to benefit 'traitor' Trump
Brian Karem (MSNBC)

A former White House reporter on Thursday lashed out at reports of dueling narratives as to what happened during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection attempt, saying he was there and that it all went down "for the benefit of Trump."

Brian J. Karem, who famously asked Trump if he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he lost the 2020 election, recently said Trump won't be the GOP's nominee. Now, Karem is targeting recent reports suggesting that there are opposing narratives about the events of that day.

"Tired of this s**t. January 6 competing narratives? F- That. I was there," Karem wrote, adding that the event "was an insurrection."

"People beaten. The People's House literally crapped on. Elected officials threatened," he added. "And it was all for the benefit of Trump - who couldn't and still can't accept defeat. TRAITOR."

Karem went on to point to his report in Playboy filed two days after January 6.

"For those who have forgotten, here is the report I filed for [Playboy] that dropped two days after the insurrection," Karem wrote. "Trump calls himself the law-and-order president. But on Wednesday he encouraged his followers to break the law so he could issue orders. He told his supporters to fight. 'We will never give up. We will never concede,' he said. And then he pushed his mob even further: 'We will not take it anymore.' The genie was out of the bottle."
