Letters containing suspicious white powder were sent to multiple Kansas lawmakers, Kansas Reflector reports.

Federal and state law enforcement agencies along with public health officials are investigating the letters.

The Kansas City Star and Topeka Capital-Journal report that Republican state House and Senate members were targeted. A spokeswoman for that state’s Democratic House and Senate members told Kansas Reflector she wasn’t aware of members of her party receiving suspicious letters.

Lawmakers were reportedly alerted about the potential threat in a Friday email from Tom Day, the state’s director of legislative administrative services, who told the outlet that the lawmakers received the letters at their homes. One letter was sent to the state’s Attorney General’s Office.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigations and the FBI are investigating the incidents.
