Former State Department spokesperson Ned Price and Fox News host Will Cain faced off on "The Will Cain Show" on Wednesday over President Donald Trump's decision to bomb three nuclear facilities in Iran.
Cain began the segment by recounting some of Trump's foreign policy initiatives, such as his attempts to create a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and prevent Pakistan and India from starting a war. Cain then asked Price if he thought Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
"You've been an excellent cheerleader for President Trump, but that's not my job," Price told Cain. "My job is to help explain the facts as I understand them."
"I think all of us would have liked to see a scenario where Iran could never develop a nuclear weapon, but that isn't what we have here," Price continued.
Trump has consistently claimed that bombs "obliterated" Iran's nuclear facilities. However, administration officials have started to walk back that claim after a damage assessment report was leaked to CNN that suggested the bombs set back Iran's nuclear capabilities by months instead of years.
"It was never the position of anyone in the administration that there would be zero nuclear capabilities, or uranium enriched at all, somewhere within the borders of Iran," Cain shot back.
"That's not true!" Price said.
Cain went on to claim that Trump's bombing set back Iran's ability to create the necessary centrifuges to set off a nuclear bomb. He also said that the Obama-era Iran deal helped fuel Iran's nuclear program because it did not ensure the country was in compliance.
Price countered that Iran regularly reported on its compliance with the Iran deal. During his first term, Trump also acknowledged that Iran was complying with the nuclear deal, Price added.
