Does China need more Russian gas via the Power-of-Siberia 2 pipeline?

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping met in Moscow for two days of talks which ended Tuesday, during which they discussed a major new infrastructure project, Power-of-Siberia 2, to deliver gas to China via Mongolia.

Putin said Russia, China and Mongolia had completed "all agreements" on finishing the pipeline to ship Russian gas to China, and that Russia will deliver at least 98 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to China by 2030, although a subsequent Russian statement said pipeline details still need to be resolved.

Ukraine war: As Russia tightens ties with China, West offers $16 billion lifeline to Kyiv

(Reuters) — China's President Xi Jinping was due to depart Moscow on Wednesday after a grandiose display of solidarity with Russian President Vladimir Putin against the West, but without offering direct support for Putin's war in Ukraine.

Mexican border state searching for two missing American minors

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -The Mexican northern border state of Nuevo Leon has begun a search for two American minors who went missing last week, the state attorney general's office said.

The 16-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy were last seen on March 17, and could be in imminent danger, according to a post by the office on its Facebook account on Monday.

French court orders fishing ban after hundreds of dolphins wash up on coast

France's top administrative court on Monday ordered the government to ban fishing in parts of the Atlantic to protect dolphins which have washed up dead in their hundreds.

The move by the State Council, the highest court in government matters, comes days after an oceanographic institute reported that at least 910 dolphins had washed up on France's Atlantic coast since the start of the winter.

Beijing experiences first population decline since 2003

BEIJING (Reuters) - The death rate in China's capital Beijing surpassed its birth rate in 2022, official data showed on Tuesday, pushing its natural population growth into negative territory for the first time since 2003.
