Appearing at a rally in the Bronx on Friday, former President Bill Clinton slapped back at Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for dismissing Hillary Clinton's primary victories in the South during Thursday night's debate.

Sanders set off a bit of a rumble when he stated, "Secretary Clinton cleaned our clock in the Deep South. We got murdered there. That is the most conservative part of this great country, that's a fact."

Clinton grimaced while Sanders was speaking, but her husband returned fire at a rally at the College of Mount Saint Vincent of Friday.

"About the only thing that disappointed me about that debate last night was the sneering reference that her opponent made to the mammoth victory she won in the South," Clinton stated.

"'Oh, that's just the South,'" Clinton mimicked the Vermont senator. "'We know how conservative they are.'"

“Well excuse me, but Democrats need to win Florida and North Carolina  to get elected, but they are states of the future — highly diverse. And she won a big victory there,” he added before mentioning her overwhelming advantage in black voters  -- including 93 percent of the African American vote in Alabama as well as the majority of the white vote.
