In case you haven't noticed, Donald Trump has quite a problem on his hands with Trump University, his phony school that charged students tens of thousands of dollars for courses that many claim were completely worthless.
Recently released documents show how Trump University salespeople were instructed to not only aggressively sell prospective students the most expensive $35,000 packages, but also to push them to pay for these packages through a number of risky methods such as maxing out credit cards and dipping into retirement savings. In fact, one former employee of the university testified under oath that he was pushed to encourage people to use their disability income to pay for classes at Trump U.
Given this, you might wonder how the Trump campaign would defend what looks to be completely indefensible. A new video posted on Wednesday by Trump's campaign gives us a preview of what the strategy might be: He'll dismiss the people suing him over Trump U. as a bunch of lazy losers who just didn't apply themselves properly.
In the video, a former Trump University student named Michelle Gunn heaps praise on the purported education she received and said that it wasn't Trump U's fault if not all of its alums had the drive to become as successful as she has.
"I have to sit back and think to myself, if they were given the same information, the same education, and the same opportunity, how come they didn't have the same results?" she asks rhetorically. "And I think that is because you have to take action upon yourself. You have to go out and make it happen."
Of course the very notion that Trump University is an educational institute of any sort is belied by the testimony of not only former students, but of former employees who referred to it as a "lie" and a "fraudulent scheme." And that is something that no three-minute video featuring three purportedly successful Trump University graduates can erase.
