WATCH: CNN analyst Angela Rye reveals the real reason why Trump backed criminal justice reform
Angela Rye talks on CNN (Screen cap).

On Tuesday, CNN analyst Angela Rye took a quick swipe at President Donald Trump for the Senate passing a criminal justice reform bill, the First Step Act.

The bill was bipartisan-backed and passed 87-12. Next, the bill will go to the House where it is also expected to pass.

Rye joked that the bill was backed by Trump because he knew he would soon need criminal justice.

Trump has been embattled in scandals and everything under his name is being investigated such as the Trump organization, Trump University, and the Trump Foundation.

"At every single turn, anything attached to Donald Trump is embattled and under investigation," Rye said. "Maybe Trump knew he needed criminal justice reform and that's why it was [passed today]."
