Donald Trump blamed terrorism for a vanished EgyptAir flight before authorities were even sure the plane had crashed with 66 people on board.
French President Francois Hollande confirmed Thursday that the plane had “crashed” and an accident investigation had been opened after the plane fell 22,000 feet and swerved sharply in Egyptian airspace before disappearing from radar.
Investigators aren't sure whether the crash was accidental or intentional, but many Twitter users -- including likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump -- speculated that terrorists brought down the passenger jet.
Looks like yet another terrorist attack. Airplane departed from Paris. When will we get tough, smart and vigilant? Great hate and sickness!— Donald J. Trump (@Donald J. Trump) 1463653668.0
Trump's fans picked up his message and stated explicitly what the real estate tycoon and reality TV star implied.
@realDonaldTrump don't let them berate you out of the Muslim ban. This is an existential war. We need to be tough!— Iößęph (@Iößęph) 1463654009.0
Other Twitter users simply belched anti-Muslim statements onto their social media pages.
Experts say bomb most likely smuggled on board #EgyptAir at Paris airport. 'Hug a Muslim' didn't stop more terror. Imagine my shock.— Paul Joseph Watson (@Paul Joseph Watson) 1463654944.0
