Mike Flynn used his secret Twitter account to tell his son to shut up — and that’s about it

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn has a secret Twitter account, but it appears he only used it a few times.

According to the Daily Beast, who uncovered the account, Flynn customized the URL for his Facebook page but instead of using his name he created the name "zulutym." The term is shorthand for Zulu Time, a military term for Greenwich Mean Time. The actual spelling of ZuluTime is registered to a West Point restaurant, but the use of the term "zulutym" appears almost nowhere online except Flynn's unused Instagram account which has it in the biography and this anonymous Twitter account.

The account was registered in May 2010 and shows a total of eight tweets and follows 38 people. The earlier tweets were more mainstream conservative military posts. Among those the accounts follow, only one seemed to be a non-political person, a tech executive who spoke at the same conference as Flynn. The two follow each other.

The more ironic of the tweets was a meme Flynn tweeted at his son urging him to shut his mouth.

"The ability to speak several languages is an asset, but the ability to keep your mouth shut in any language is priceless!" the meme reads.

@MGF_83 was the previous name for Michael G. Flynn Jr.'s account before he changed it to @MFlynnJr.

Flynn is under investigation for keeping his mouth a little too closed. He didn't disclose to the government that he had contracts and close ties to Russia and Turkey. He was fired from the White House for lying about it to Vice President Mike Pence. The firing came despite many in the campaign, transition and administration knowing of the conflict of interest and many warnings to the Trump transition, headed by Pence.

The account also followed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) before he followed Trump.
