Seth Meyers: Pathetic Trump is 'outright lying' because he's 'desperate for any kind of positive achievement'

According to late-night host Seth Meyers, President Donald Trump is “so desperate for literally any kind of positive achievement” that he's willing to lie that he won something.

During his Thursday show, Meyers noted that Trump has resorted to “outright lying” about the GOP's efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare as well as his new tax plan to benefit the rich.

“But there’s one major obstacle standing on the way of Trump’s domestic agenda,” Meyers explained. “He has no idea what he’s talking about.”

The painful Trump-truth was obvious as the president desperately tried to tweet over and over that he would win the so-called repeal and replace. However, Congressional Republicans aren't sure how.

Trump tried to blame an emergency that put one Republican senator "in the hospital" for the canceled health care vote. It appeared to be a reference to Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS), who wasn't actually in the hospital. He was forced to clarify Trump's claim via Twitter, saying that it was a non-emergency and that he was recovering at home.

“What are you talking about?” Meyers asked while laughing. “I’m starting to think, the next time you have a chance, you might consider dropping by a hospital, for just some of the basic tests, you know?”

But according to Meyers, “this is how bad things are now.”

“The president spreads so many insane rumors, senators have to issue statements letting everyone know they’re OK," he continued. This is the first presidency where you have to check in safe on Facebook.”

He closed with a prediction: “it’s only a matter of time” before Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is forced to tweet out that he “did not fall down a well and get trapped for days and has not been forced to eat rats to stay alive.”
